TV Preview: Outlander on STARZ
To those of you who love a good book series turned TV show, this one is for you.
"Outlander" is based on the longtime book series of the same name written by Diana Gabaldon. The series follows a British woman, Claire Randall, who falls through a ring of standing stones in 1945 Scotland while on her honeymoon. The stones take her back in time to 1743, where she is stranded and must take up with a young Scotsman, Jamie MacTavish, in order to stay alive and find a way back to her husband in 1945.
The first book of the series was published in 1991, and fans have since waited another seven books and some twenty-odd years to see this series finally hit the screen. Recently, the cast and creators took over San Diego Comic Con (SDCC), bringing with them an entire castle for their booth. See it here!
The cast chosen to play the characters is absolutely stunning, including:
Catriona (pronounced KATRINA) Balfe playing the lead character Claire Randall.
Tobias Menzies playing Claire's husband in 1945, Frank Randall.
Sam Heughan playing Scotsman Jamie MacTavish. What's that? He doesn't look like a Scotsman at all? Have no fear, because this is what he looks like in character:
Yup. The only word you have for that is DREAMY. and just wait until you hear his accent! *swoon*
The first picture is actually from a film he was in a few years ago, A Princess for Christmas. Which he was also pretty adorable in.
So, the cast is pretty darn awesome, and oh yeah. This is Ron Moore. The mastermind who convinced Diana (the author) to let him make the books into a TV show:
You're welcome.
OUTLANDER premieres this Saturday, August 9th, 2014 on STARZ (which is not that expensive, just saying), but the first episode is available on the STARZ website for FREE if you're interested. I am waiting until Saturday to watch it on my large-screen TV, so no spoilers!
Until next time,
Amanda
